Lizzie
Lizzie is a 3.5-year-old red dapple shorthair miniature dachshund weighing 12 pounds. This sweet girl may be a little shy when you first meet her, but underneath that reserved exterior is a fun-loving, affectionate little dog just waiting for the right family to help her shine!
Lizzie is naturally cautious around unfamiliar people and situations, so she needs a little time and patience to build trust. Once she feels safe and comfortable, however, her incredibly sweet personality begins to emerge. She’s a loving companion who forms special bonds with the people she learns to trust.
Don’t let her initial shyness fool you — Lizzie has plenty of energy and absolutely loves to run and play! Once she’s comfortable in her surroundings, she’s an active, happy little girl who enjoys stretching her legs, exploring, and having fun.
Lizzie’s ideal home would have a securely fenced backyard where she can safely run, play, and explore to her heart’s content. She would also benefit tremendously from having a friendly, confident dog companion who can help her feel secure, build confidence, and adjust to her new environment.
Because of her timid nature, Lizzie is looking for a quiet, adult-only home without children. Her perfect family will understand that building a relationship with a shy dog takes patience, consistency, and a gentle approach. They’ll give her the freedom to settle in at her own pace rather than expecting her to be outgoing from day one.
Lizzie is crate trained, but she will need continued work with house training and leash training. Her future family should be prepared to help her learn these skills through patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement.
Lizzie has been spayed, recently had a dental cleaning, is up to date on vaccinations, and is microchipped. She is also current on her monthly heartworm, flea, and tick prevention, so she’s ready to begin the next chapter of her life with a loving family!
Lizzie may not be the first dog to greet you at the door or jump into your lap, but there’s something incredibly special about earning the trust of a shy little dog. Watching her confidence grow, seeing her playful personality come to life, and knowing you’ve given her a safe place to call home will make the journey so rewarding.
