Feather
Feather is an adorable 4.5-year-old red dapple wirehaired miniature dachshund who may be tiny in size, but she has a HUGE personality! This little girl has never met a stranger — she absolutely LOVES everyone she meets and is always ready to make a new friend!
True to her wirehaired dachshund roots, Feather is a busy, curious, adventurous little girl with a zest for life! Wirehairs tend to be more active and have a higher prey drive than many other dachshunds, and Feather is no exception. She loves having things to do, places to explore, and opportunities to put that little dachshund nose to work. After she’s explored, she wants to be held and cuddle and take a good nap with her people. She’s the perfect combination of an enthusiastic adventurer and an affectionate companion!
Feather’s ideal home would have a securely fenced backyard where she can safely explore, sniff, chase squirrels, and satisfy those natural hunting instincts. She would thrive with a semi-active family who enjoys spending time outdoors and appreciates the entertaining, sometimes mischievous personality that makes wirehaired dachshunds so special.
Unlike some of our more reserved retired girls, Feather is incredibly outgoing and social! We believe she would do wonderfully in a home with children and would love being part of an active, involved family.
Feather could also be perfectly happy as an only dog, provided someone is home the majority of the time to keep her company. If her family is away regularly, she will need another compatible dog to provide companionship and help keep her entertained.
Feather is crate trained, but she will need continued work with house training and leash training. Her future family should be prepared to help her develop these skills with patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement.
Feather has been spayed, recently had a dental cleaning, is up to date on vaccinations, and is microchipped. She is also current on her monthly heartworm, flea, and tick prevention, so she’s ready to begin her next adventure with her forever family!
